Ultra-runners have a complicated relationship with sound—some race to playlists, some prefer silence, some just listen to whatever the trail gives them. RYTHYM Running exists to explore that tension, and offer a space for athletes to share their experiences with sound. I wondered: What do my idols listen to when they’re 100 miles into a trail?

As both an ultra-runner and a designer, I brought firsthand experience to the research and brand development. I built out the full system: visual identity, website, social media, exhibition materials, merchandise, and more. All designed to spark conversation around how sound shapes the endurance experience.

The project was presented as a complete brand experience at the University of Utah BFA Graphic Design Capstone exhibition in Salt Lake City in April 2025.
